NSTDA organizes the first ASEAN BCG knowledge sharing webinar introducing general concept of Bio-Circular-Green Economy

NSTDA, in collaboration with the Department of ASEAN Affairs and the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue, organized the webinar entitled “Introductory Session on Putting the Concept into Practice” on 14 March 2022. This webinar is an activity under the ASEAN Network on Bio-Circular-Green Economy (ASEAN BCG Network) that NSTDA is hosting and is part of ASEAN BCG Knowledge Sharing Series. Over 140 participants from the public sector, private companies, universities, and civil societies across the ASEAN region attended the webinar.

In this event, Dr. Lily Eurwilaichitr, NSTDA Vice President, and Dr. Panachit Kittipanya-Ngam, former President of Thailand Tech Startup Association, described the rationale and perspectives on how the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) can support sustainable development agenda in ASEAN. Presentations from various speakers also showcased examples of how the private sector and civil society in Thailand put the BCG concept in practice, including innovations by the NSTDA for value-added rubber production, an online marketplace by MoreLoop to promote reusing textile wastes, a plastic wastes recycling campaign by WON Project, upcycling used fishing nets into designed products by Qualy, and a community food rescue programme by SOS Foundation Thailand. The webinar provided an excellent platform for participants not only to gain a more in-depth and practical understanding of the BCG model but also to foster network and exchange perspectives on promoting sustainable development in ASEAN.
