TAIST – Tokyo Tech welcomes new batch of students

On 25 July 2022, NSTDA and its partners hosted TAIST – Tokyo Tech Orientation Ceremony 2022 on a virtual platform. The event was presided over by Prof. Katsunori Hanamura, Chair of TAIST – Tokyo Tech Steering Committee, and NSTDA Executive Vice President Dr. Chadamas Thuvasethakul.

 

TAIST – Tokyo Tech is a graduate program established under the collaboration between NSTDA, Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) and Thai universities – Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University; Kasetsart University; King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang; King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi; and Mahidol University – aiming to produce world-class researchers and high-level engineers.

In her remarks, Dr. Chadamas stated that this year’s program is mainly sponsored by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) with partial funding contributed by Thai universities. The program currently has 69 enrolled students, 23 of which are Thai and 46 are international representing Asian countries, including Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal and Pakistan. TAIST – Tokyo Tech offers three programs, namely Automotive and Advanced Transportation Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, and Sustainable Energy and Resources Engineering. Since its inception, the program has had an enrolment of more than 800 students, of which 462 have graduated.
