Thai student team wins Intel AI Global Impact Festival Grand Prize

NSTDA President Prof. Dr. Sukit Limpijumnong recently offered his congratulations to Thai student team consisting of Tanapat Charunworphan, Noppawit Chunram and Matt Tanthai Cosh for winning the global grand prize at the Intel AI Global Impact Festival 2022. The Prince Royal’s College students won the award for the 13- to 17-year-old age group with their innovation called CS-M Tool.

CS-M is an AI tool that allows anyone to get a regular heart checkup through a three-tiered approach, CAR, which stands for Checkup through AI analysis, Awareness of relevant heart checkup results, and Rapid referral to nearby hospitals. Regular heart checkup helps detect risk factors in their earliest stages and prevent serious ailments and severe consequences.

Prior to taking this global prize, this student team was named the winner of the National Software Contest 2022 (NSC 2022) organized by NSTDA. They were among 1,000 teams from 25 countries entering the Intel AI Global Impact Festival 2022 taking place from 29 August to 5 September. Six prizes were awarded – three for the 13- to 17-year-old age group and three for the 18-year-old + age group.

As cardiovascular disease is the top cause of death in Thailand, CM-S offers a promising solution to reduce the severity with early detection. It has potential to be implemented in primary care centers nationwide – a strategy in line with the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) development model.
