กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ ได้จัดทำแนวทางการพัฒนาภาคเกษตร ภายใต้โมเดลเศรษฐกิจ BCG โดยมีเป้าหมายในการปรับเปลี่ยนภาคเกษตรไทยไปสู่ 3 สูง คือ ประสิทธิภาพสูง ด้วยเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมผสานภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น มุ่งยกระดับผลผลิตเกษตรสู่มาตรฐานสูง ด้วยระบบการผลิตที่ยั่งยืน ครอบคลุมทั้งด้านคุณภาพ ความปลอดภัย โภชนาการ สังคม และสิ่งแวดล้อม เพื่อให้การทําการเกษตรเป็นอาชีพที่สร้างรายได้สูง ด้วยการผลิตสินค้าเกษตรที่เน้นความเป็นพรีเมียม มีอัตลักษณ์ มีความหลากหลาย และสามารถกําหนดราคาขายได้ตามคุณภาพของผลผลิต ทั้งนี้ การพัฒนาภาคเกษตร ภายใต้โมเดลเศรษฐกิจ BCG เป็นการปรับเปลี่ยนการทำเกษตรแบบดั้งเดิมที่ “ผลิตมาก แต่สร้างรายได้น้อย” (More for less) ไปสู่เกษตรสมัยใหม่ที่ “ผลิตน้อย แต่สร้างรายได้มาก” (Less for more) โดยมุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาสินค้าเกษตรให้มีมูลค่าสูงหรือเป็นสินค้าพรีเมียม ส่งเสริมระบบเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียนที่นำวัสดุเหลือใช้ทางการเกษตรมาใช้ประโยชน์อย่างเต็มประสิทธิภาพ และเป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has developed the guideline for the agricultural development under the BCG Economic Model with the aim to transform the agricultural sector towards three improvements. The first one is “High Efficiency” by using the technology, innovation and local wisdom to improve production efficiency. The second one is “High Standards” by promoting the sustainable production with the inclusion of quality, safety, nutrition, society, and environment. The last one is “High Income” by encouraging farmers to produce premium goods and agricultural products with distinctive identity.
The agricultural development under the BCG economic model is the transformation of the traditional agricultural practice as “produce more for less revenue” to modern agriculture that “produce less for more revenue” by focusing on the development of high valued or premium products and promoting the circular economy with the utilization of agricultural waste effectively and eco-friendly. As a result, Thai farmers will have secure incomes and better quality of life. The Thai agricultural sector continues to grow with stability in the long run.
